Getting a local SIM in Morocco
🏪Where to buy
Airport kiosks at Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN), Marrakech Menara (RAK) and Agadir (AGA): all three operators have counters. In Marrakech: operator stores near Djemaa el-Fna square and in the Guéliz neighbourhood. In Fez: near the medina entrances. In Casablanca: Marjane and Carrefour hypermarkets sell SIMs. Small mobile phone shops and "hanout" corner stores throughout the country sell SIMs and top-up credit (recharge).
📄Documents needed
Passport required. Morocco mandates SIM registration with a valid identity document. The operator scans your passport and registers the SIM in your name at the point of sale — this takes 5–10 minutes. No visa or local residence permit is needed for tourist SIM purchase.
